A member of the Modoc, Klamath, Paiute and Warm Springs tribes, Gilbert Brown calls Portland Oregon his home. He is a father, a comedian, a wild horse rodeo cowboy, a Pow Wow MC, and a traditional fisherman. He's been known as the legendary 'Short Bird' ever since a horse bit off part of his middle finger during a rodeo.
His stand up comedy draws on the various facets of his rich life. He is a storyteller and he's not afraid to tell it the way it happened. His blue collar roots as a city facilities worker mean his voice reaches out to all regular folks and has them rolling in their seats with laughter. |
When he's not performing standup comedy - he is busy teaching the next generation the ins and outs of wild horse rodeo. He's a popular Pow Wow emcee all across Indian Country. And he's a strong advocate of his people's traditions, taking the time to speak to Native Youth through workshops and youth comedy shows.
